A Bird With Broken Feather
by Carmen A. Cisnădean
by Carmen A. Cisnădean
You see that bird at your window and judge her by her feather
Although the look inside her eyes has fascinated you,
Her broken feather there you stare at
And you forget the rest of her is with her
She looks at you but you persist in gray gaze at her beaten feather
Her eyes stand still on you
And there you see the reflection of what she saw in you
Another bird, an other with a broken feather.
But then you may consider her as whole and pardon her,
Her brokenness, and see beyond the feather
Perhaps you judge that of her which yourself are guilty of
And quiver in the heart is taking hold of you.
Despite the flaws you see in her, you know her heart is pure
Don't envy that she's strong and holds her feathers high
She's been through trash and piles of dirt mistreated
By the other birds who told her that they loved her.
Don't scold her for she stretches proud her wings
Across the sky's cloud blanket
For even though alone she is, she went through much to get to this
Her freedom, that is.
She wants a flock but so alone she dances all across the sky
And paints a whole new world
She's happy as she now can see the beauty that no others see,
Because they cannot once and all
Bypass that she is sweet but strong,
A bird so stalwart but so rare,
That Carmen rara avis in the air.
